Special Applications
The SIRIUS modular system
SIRIUS has long been synonymous world-wide for industrial controls and was a trendsetter in this field from the very beginning. The SIRIUS modular system with its components for the switching, starting, protection and monitoring of motors and industrial systems stands for the fast, flexible and space-saving construction of control cabinets.
The SIRIUS modular system in sizes S00 to S3 up to 55 kW/400 V (AC-3: 110 A) has been completely revised with respect to both the main and the control circuits. As a result, the innovative basic components such as motor starter protectors and contactors provide a host of advantages to optimize your plant, today and in the future. Often the innovation is to be found in the details. For example, more power in the same design and the bundling of functions in basic units for notable space savings.
Another aspect at the focus of the new developments was the enhancement of plant availability. In future, SIRIUS components from the modular system can even be used at minimum expense to monitor the application. Selective plant monitoring then becomes utterly simple – with current monitoring relays integrated directly in the load feeder or configured from the controller via the load feeder connection to AS‑Interface or IO‑Link.
Sizes S00 to S3 of 3RT1 contactors are replaced by the 3RT2 series.
These new products are the perfect low-end supplement to the modular system sizes S6 to S12 up to 250 kW at 400 V and offer many new options for the construction of control cabinets.
Contactor relays
3RH2
Overview
Contactor relays are switching devices for control and auxiliary circuits and are used for controlling, signalling and locking switching devices and switchgear. Naturally, SIRIUS 3RH2 contactor relays come with standard-compliant connection designations and a connection system that saves both time and installation overhead. This makes them particularly suitable for practical applications. 3RH2 contactor relays and size S00 motor contactors are the same size and have an identical design – a significant advantage, particularly with regard to the accessories.
They are designed for AC or DC operation and are available with screw or spring-type terminals. The basic version of the contactor relays is a 4‑pole design which can be extended up to eight poles by means of snap-on auxiliary switch blocks.
Coupling Relays
3RQ3
6.2mm slimline, compact design with relay output.
3RQ3 coupling relays have been innovated and are now available in a high-quality enclosure design with a uniform look across the range. With a width of just 6.2 mm and a low mounting depth and height, they are ideal for optimizing the use of space in control cabinets with narrow tier spacing or in flat switchboxes. All versions are available with either screw terminals or spring-type terminals with push-in technology. The wire inlet and front clamping option additionally serves to reduce wiring times.
LOAD FEEDERS & MOTOR STARTERS
Load Feeders
SIRIUS 3RA2
The 3RA2 fuseless load feeders consist of the 3RV2 motor starter protector and the 3RT2 electromechanical contactor. The devices are electrically and mechanically connected using preassembled assembly kits (link modules, wiring kits and standard mounting rail or busbar adapters).
Around 500 preassembled 3RA2 combinations can be ordered for direct-on-line, reversing or start-delta starting of standard three-phase motors up to 65 A (approx. 37 kW/400 V). Preassembled assembly kits are available as accessories for the power range up to 45 kW. The desired fuseless load feeder can thus be assembled quickly and economically by the customer. A time saving is also achieved in connection with switchgear acceptances, as – unlike with conventional wiring systems – there is no need to rectify possible wiring errors.
In the load feeder 3RA2, the 3RV2 motor starter protector is responsible for overload and short-circuit protection. Back-up protective devices, such as melting fuses or limiters, are superfluous here, as the motor starter protector is short-circuit proof up to 150 kA at 400 V.
The 3RT2 contactor is particularly suitable for extremely complex switching tasks requiring the greatest endurance.
3RA2 load feeders are available with setting ranges from 0.14 to 65 A in sizes S00, S0 and S2. Load feeders in size S3 up to 100 A are available for self-assembly.
